NYRFans.com Atlantic City Signing

Meet some of your favorite NY Rangers at Atlantic City's Ocean Hotel and Casino

On Staurday July 28, 2019 at the Ocean Casino Resort, Ted Kalamaras, the CEO of nyrfans.com, hosted the 6th annual Fan Aprreciation Signing. Five New York Rangers were in attendence:

  • Number 21 Brett Howden plays Center
  • Number 48 Brendan Lemieux plays Left Wing
  • Number 77 Tony DeAngelo plays Defenseman
  • Former number 95 Vinni Lettieri plays Center
  • Former number 90 Vladislav Namestnikov plays Left Wing.

The day starts with meeting the players, signing pucks, photos and more, and of course Kalamaras kindly takes photos of each fan with the players. Then there is a break where VIP fans enjoy dinner with Kalamaras and the Rangers before returning to the rest of the fans for some virtual games. They have Football, Golf, Zombies, and of course Hockey. The players enjoy the trip as much as the fans thanks to Kalamaras’ kindness.

“Ted is first class,” DeAngelo said. “He does a really nice job with these events.”

This is DeAngelo’s 3rd Fan Appreciation signing with nyrfans.com. DeAngelo lives in New Jersey during his summer breaks, where as others had to travel a bit further. One fan traveled as far as 3472 miles.

Tom Saran, from Leicester, England, only the night before the signing won first prize on the Spin to Win Wheel. This prize was a ticket to the signing and a hotel room paid for by nyrfans.com. Saran immediately booked a flight for just an hour after he found out he won, and was in New Jersey around 1 a.m. to enjoy his prize.

“I knew when I didn’t win third place (signed memorabilia) that I’d have to go if I won a ticket,” Saran said. “I won first prize and I bought my plane ticket and here I am.”

Another fan, traveling a much shorter Journey, is used to meeting the players of her favorite team. Suzanna Miller of Pleasantville, New York has been to a few of Kalamaras’ signings and enjoys getting to know the person behind the athlete. This year Miller did a sketch of Lemieux to express her appreciation of his dedication to the team.

“Having a day during the off season to see and interact with the players eases the drag of the summer hockey drought,” Miller said. “It’s very special to see the players hang out with one another as brothers and all of us grow closer as a community. From the organizer [Ted Kalamaras] to a shy child meeting a player for the first time, there are smiles all around.”

Kalamaras has been working closely with the fans and the athletes in hopes of expanding. This year there will be six signings with eight of the New York Rangers. The first signing is January 8th with Tony DeAngelo and Brendan Lemieux. For other dates, and more information please check the calendar below.

“Guys on my team have done this event before,” Howden said. “Ted has a really good set up here. He really made us feel comfortable doing this.”

Kalamaras makes sure the athletes arrive early so they have time to enjoy Atlantic City. Kalamaras also makes sure they have time to enjoy everything this city has to offer between signings by having them take turns. First up was Howden and Namestnikov, folllowed by Lemieux, and finally DeAngelo and Lettieri. Fans enjoy chatting and getting to know each player with ease thanks to Kalamras’ organization.

“Meeting Rangers fans is always fun,” Lemieux said. “Everyone has their story where they’re from and why they’re drawn to the Rangers; it’s interesting getting to know some of the fans. I think hockey fans in general are just easy to talk to.”
